How the Math Works
Single-Order Math
- Calculated CBD per serving = total labeled CBD ÷ labeled servings.
- Cost per labeled CBD mg = delivered total ÷ total labeled CBD. If no delivered total is entered, the item price is used.
- Cost per serving = delivered total ÷ labeled servings.
- Implied liquid servings = package volume ÷ serving volume.
Single-Order Example: 30 Gummies, 15 Servings
These are fictional package numbers for checking arithmetic. A jar contains 30 gummies and lists 2 gummies per serving, so it has 15 labeled servings. Enter 1,500 mg total labeled CBD, 15 labeled servings, a $40 item price and a $45 delivered total. If the label claims 100 mg CBD per serving, enter 100 in the optional claimed-amount field.
The calculator returns 100 mg per labeled serving, $0.0300 per labeled CBD mg and $3.00 per labeled serving. Each gummy accounts for 50 mg of the labeled CBD, but the serving field uses 15, not 30. The delivered total replaces the item price in the cost calculation; the two prices are not added together.
If your package does not state a serving count and you cannot establish it from its stated serving size, leave that part of the comparison unresolved. Use the price-per-milligram formula in the linked guide for a price-only check. A labeled serving is not a personal intake recommendation, and matching arithmetic does not verify the contents.
Recurring-Purchase Math
- Total spend = first-order price + repeat-order price × (order count − 1) + delivery fee × order count.
- Total labeled CBD = labeled CBD per order × order count.
- Average spend per order = total spend ÷ order count.
- Recurring cost per labeled CBD mg = total spend ÷ total labeled CBD.
Worked Case 1: First Order $30, Repeats $40
A product contains 1,000mg labeled CBD per order. Enter a $30 first-order price, $40 repeat price, $0 delivery fee and 4 orders. Total spend is $150, total labeled CBD is 4,000mg, average spend is $37.50 per order, and the calculated cost is $0.0375 per labeled CBD mg.
Worked Case 2: Delivery Fees Change the Comparison
A product contains 750mg labeled CBD per order. Enter a $20 first-order price, $35 repeat price, $6 delivery fee and 3 orders. Total spend is $108, total labeled CBD is 2,250mg, average spend is $36.00 per order, and the calculated cost is $0.0480 per labeled CBD mg.
