Consumer notice: This guide explains labels, ingredients, lab reports, and price math. It does not recommend a dose, diagnose a condition, or predict personal effects. Ask a licensed clinician or pharmacist about medicines and health risks.
CBD capsules and softgels make serving math look simple, but the label can still separate CBD per unit, units per serving, total units, and total CBD. Ingredients, shell materials, added compounds, and batch results also matter.
Confirm CBD Per Unit and Per Serving
Find CBD per capsule or softgel, then check how many units count as a serving. Multiply CBD per unit by the number of units in the bottle to test the total claim.
| Label Statement | Check | Expected Total |
|---|---|---|
| 30 softgels at 25 mg each | 30 × 25 | 750 mg CBD |
| 60 capsules at 15 mg each | 60 × 15 | 900 mg CBD |
This confirms arithmetic only. The batch report is the evidence check for the tested sample.
Inspect the Full Ingredient List
- Carrier oils and capsule shell ingredients
- Gelatin or plant-based alternatives
- Colors, preservatives, and flavoring agents
- Added melatonin, herbs, vitamins, or cannabinoids
- Allergen statements and storage directions
Added ingredients can change who should avoid a product or ask a clinician. A short front label may hide a much longer formula.
Match the Lot Number to the COA
- Match product name, strength, form, and lot number.
- Check the laboratory and test date.
- Compare CBD potency with the label claim.
- Read delta-9 THC, THCA, and total THC.
- Confirm which contaminant panels were run.
Read the CBD COA guide before accepting a QR code as proof. If you have the package and report together, use the CBD COA Batch-Match Checklist to confirm the product, strength, lot number, laboratory, and dates.
Compare Capsules With Other Forms
Capsules offer fixed units and may be easier to count than an unmarked dropper. Gummies add sweeteners and food-style ingredients. Oils make concentration per milliliter important. None of these format differences proves a product is safer, more effective, or correctly labeled.
Compare with the oils and tinctures guide and gummies and edibles guide.
Calculate the Delivered Price
Divide delivered price by total labeled CBD. Then compare unit count, ingredients, batch evidence, return terms, and shipping. See the price-per-milligram guide and buying checklist.
