Document-based CBD product records

CBD Product Passports show what can be verified about a named product and batch without collapsing everything into one star score. Each Passport separates label claims, batch identity, laboratory evidence, contaminant panels, seller terms, public regulatory records, and missing information.

How a CBD Product Passport Works

CBDCafe.org uses three review levels: Documentation Review, Purchased Product Review, and Independent Lab Review. A Documentation Review checks public product records, seller disclosures, matching batch reports, laboratory results, commerce terms, and public agency records. It does not claim that CBDCafe physically inspected or independently tested the product.

ResultMeaning
PassThe available evidence meets the published check for that field.
ConcernThe evidence conflicts, falls outside the check, or raises a material documentation question.
UnknownThe information needed to make the check was not available. Unknown never counts as Pass.
Not ApplicableThe check does not apply to that product or review level.

What We Check

  • Product name, form, strength, and batch or lot identity
  • Whether the COA matches the product and batch
  • COA sample, test, and report dates
  • Laboratory identity and available accreditation or certification information
  • CBD, THC, and other relevant cannabinoid results with units and reporting limits
  • Contaminant panels shown on the report
  • Ingredients and seller disclosures
  • Price and subscription or return terms when observed
  • Public warning letters, recalls, or other agency records when relevant
  • Material conflicts between seller claims and available evidence

How to Use a Product Passport

  1. Match the product name, strength, and batch or lot number to the item you are checking.
  2. Read each field separately. A Pass in one field does not override a Concern or Unknown elsewhere.
  3. Open the linked seller page and COA when a purchase or safety decision depends on current information.
  4. Check the Last Checked date because prices, claims, formulas, lab links, and seller terms can change.

For help reading the evidence, use How to Read a CBD Label and How to Read a CBD COA. For seller-level systems and policies, compare the CBD Brand Report Cards; for findings across the broader documentation sample, see the CBD COA Access and Label Quality Report.

Important Limits

Product Passport notice: A Passport is a dated record of the documents and evidence named on the page. It is not a medical recommendation, dosing guide, legal opinion, guarantee of safety or effectiveness, or promise that a later batch will match the reviewed batch. Batch evidence can become outdated, and missing evidence remains Unknown.
