Brand: cbdMD. Report-card status: Concern. cbdMD provides a public batch-number COA lookup, product-page lab links, broad testing disclosures, a 60-day return program, and cancellable subscriptions. The strongest current concern is consumer-facing consistency: sampled broad-spectrum product pages use THC-free wording while other text on the same pages can conflict about extract type, THC exposure, drug testing, or age restrictions.
Brand Report Card
| Check | Result | Current evidence |
|---|---|---|
| COA access | Pass | cbdMD maintains a public Certificate of Analysis lookup and links lab results from current product pages. |
| Batch matching | Pass | The COA page instructs shoppers to enter the five-digit batch or lot number printed on the product label to retrieve the matching report. It also warns that the latest report shown before purchase may differ from the batch ultimately shipped. |
| Test-panel coverage | Pass | cbdMD’s current COA guidance says its reports summarize cannabinoid results and safety testing for residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and biological impurities. This card reviews the public documentation system and does not independently retest products. |
| Label and product-page clarity | Concern | The current Broad Spectrum CBD Calming Gummies page describes a THC-free broad-spectrum formula but also contains conflicting extract wording and THC warnings. A separate Broad Spectrum CBD Gummies page displays a 21+ warning while its FAQ says users must be 18 or older. |
| THC wording | Concern | The September 5 CBDCafe 20-brand audit rated cbdMD Concern. A September 11 recheck still found THC-free and no-THC claims alongside THC exposure or positive-drug-screen warnings on sampled broad-spectrum product copy. |
| Refund terms | Pass | The current shipping and returns page states a 60-day money-back guarantee and says cbdMD can provide a return label. Refunds and exchanges remain subject to review and cbdMD discretion. |
| Subscription cancellation | Pass | Current Subscribe & Save material says customers may cancel anytime. Prepaid subscriptions have a specific early-cancellation calculation that can reduce the refund because used months are recalculated at the pay-as-you-go discount. |
| Customer service test | Not Tested | CBDCafe did not contact cbdMD customer service for BR-013. |
| FDA warning-letter check | Unknown | CBDCafe did not identify an FDA warning letter to cbdMD in the FDA searches used for this review. An unsuccessful search is not proof that no regulatory record exists and is not FDA approval. |
| Evidence freshness | Pass | The 20-brand audit finding was checked September 5, 2026. cbdMD’s COA, returns, subscription, and sampled product-page documentation were rechecked September 11, 2026. |
COA Access and Batch Matching
cbdMD provides a public COA lookup that is designed around the identifier on the package. The company says its products carry an expiration date and a five-digit batch or lot number. A shopper can enter that number to locate the report for the product in hand.
The same COA page also makes an important distinction for pre-purchase research: a product page may show lab results for the latest batch, but inventory turnover means the item delivered may come from a different batch. The package identifier should therefore be checked again after purchase rather than assuming the pre-purchase certificate is the final match.

What cbdMD Says Its COAs Cover
cbdMD’s current COA guidance says the report summary includes CBD, THC, total cannabinoids, and terpene information and indicates whether the tested sample passed safety standards for residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and biological impurities.
That is a useful public testing disclosure. It does not mean CBDCafe independently confirmed every panel on every current batch, and it does not turn a laboratory report into a general safety guarantee.
THC and Product-Page Consistency Concerns
The September 5, 2026 CBDCafe documentation audit rated cbdMD Concern for THC wording. The same issue remained visible during the September 11 recheck.
On the current Broad Spectrum CBD Calming Gummies page, cbdMD describes the formula as THC-free and broad spectrum. Elsewhere on that same page, the ingredient copy also refers to full-spectrum hemp extract, while the warning section says the product contains hemp-derived THC and may produce a positive drug screen. The FAQ then says the gummies do not contain THC.
A second sampled page, Broad Spectrum CBD Gummies, displays an adult-use warning for people 21 and older while its FAQ says a person must be 18 or older. CBDCafe records these as documentation-consistency concerns. This report does not infer the actual chemistry or legal age requirement from conflicting seller copy.

Return and Subscription Terms
cbdMD’s current returns page states a 60-day money-back guarantee. It says customers can contact customer service to request a return or refund and that the company can provide a return label. The same policy also states that refunds and exchanges are subject to review and are provided at cbdMD’s discretion.
The current Subscribe & Save program advertises cancellation at any time. Pay-as-you-go subscriptions and prepaid subscriptions do not have identical economics: if a prepaid plan is canceled before its term ends, cbdMD says the refund is recalculated using the lower pay-as-you-go discount rather than the larger prepaid discount. The page also says refunds following cancellation are processed to the original payment method.

Regulatory Record Check
CBDCafe searched current FDA web results for cbdMD during this review and did not identify an FDA warning letter addressed to the company. That is recorded as Unknown, not Pass. Search results can be incomplete, names and corporate entities can change, and the absence of a warning letter does not mean a product is FDA approved or compliant.
An FTC list from 2023 includes cbdMD among companies that received a general Notice of Penalty Offenses concerning substantiation of product claims. The FTC document itself states that inclusion on that recipient list is not an indication that a company did anything wrong. CBDCafe therefore does not score that notice as an enforcement Concern.
How to Verify cbdMD Documentation Now
- Find the five-digit batch or lot number on the package.
- Enter that identifier in cbdMD’s COA lookup instead of relying only on the latest certificate shown before purchase.
- Confirm the product name, strength, batch, report date, cannabinoid results, reporting limits, and contaminant panels.
- Compare THC-free or broad-spectrum wording with the actual matching report and package warnings.
- Recheck return and subscription terms before ordering because seller policies can change.
